Whitney and Roxy Split on 'The City'

Whitney and Roxy Split on 'The City'

I admit an abiding interest in "The City" on MTV just because it's more about the business of the fashion industry and less about trying to snag scruffy looking and ultimately unreliable boyfriends.
This year has seen the ascension of Whitney Port's line of clothing, but has also turned her into a bit of a monster. When a minor pop star from Canada took off one of her jackets before a promotional concert, she blamed her friend and co-worker Roxy - as if she could have controlled what had happened.
It caused a split in their friendship such that Roxy packed her bags and left the apartment they shared together. Whitney looked surprised and a little hurt as Roxy left. "I had no idea you were leaving so soon," she says. On the other hand, she made no attempt to make amends. And Roxy's future looks rocky, especially since her dad told her he wouldn't foot the bill any longer.
Her father, in this case, was played by Ken Olin of "thirtysomething." He was very good. After all, as Michael Steadman on "thirtysomething," he was once voted among the best dads in TV history.
However, because this is a reality show, Ken Olin of "thirtysomething" (and more recently a busy director and sometimes guest star on "Brothers & Sisters") really is her dad. Which is kind of weird. It also means Patricia Wetting (also of those two shows) is her mom. But she hasn't made an appearance yet (I keep thinking: season three!).
